Genesis 38 shows us that even in the messiest, most unexpected parts of life, God is still at work. The story of Judah and Tamar is raw, uncomfortable, and often skipped—but it reminds us that God uses broken people and strange detours to accomplish his purposes. Judah’s rejection, Tamar’s boldness, and the sinful choices of both are not beyond God’s reach. In fact, this bizarre chapter is a key link in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. God works through the insignificant and the sinful to bring about his plan.
God doesn’t need you to be impressive. He just wants you to be available.
