What We Believe
At Island Pond Baptist Church, we believe the Bible is God’s Word, Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and the church exists to glorify God by making disciples. We are a Christian, evangelical, Baptist church committed to the gospel, the authority of Scripture, and the mission Jesus gave his church in Matthew 28:18-20.
What We Believe at a Glance
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, true, and trustworthy Word of God. It is our final authority for what we believe and how we live.
God
We believe in one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died on the cross for sinners, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return in glory.
Salvation
We believe every person has sinned and needs God’s grace. Salvation is a gift of God received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe the local church is a family of baptized believers who worship together, grow as disciples, serve one another, and proclaim the gospel.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe baptism is for believers and is practiced by immersion. We observe the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Christ’s death and a proclamation of his return.
Our Mission
We believe Jesus has called his church to make disciples of all nations. That mission shapes our worship, preaching, ministries, and outreach.
What This Means When You Visit
Because we believe the Bible is God’s Word, our sermons usually work through a passage of Scripture and explain what it means, how it points us to Christ, and how God calls us to respond.
Because we believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus, we regularly call people to repent, believe the gospel, and follow Jesus.
Because we believe the church is a family of disciples, we encourage people not only to attend worship, but also to grow through membership, groups, service, and mission.
Our Statement of Faith
Island Pond Baptist Church affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our statement of faith. This statement gives a fuller summary of the biblical convictions we hold as a church.
