Kicking off “Guardians of the Faith,” this message from 1 Timothy 1:1–20 shows why Paul wrote to Timothy: false teachers were infiltrating the church at Ephesus. Paul counters the counterfeits by centering on the true gospel, the Christ Jesus came to save sinners, and by reminding us that the Law exposes sin but cannot save. The gospel transforms lives (just look at Paul) and the church must wage the good warfare to protect that gospel. We guard the church not with preference or comfort but with Scripture-shaped conviction and courageous love.
Know the real gospel so well that the counterfeits can’t fool you.
