“God loves to work in seemingly impossible situations.”
If you are a Christian, you probably agree with that statement. But do you live out that belief?
Tonight during our family devotions I read the kids the story of Abraham being called to a new land. He was told he would be the father of many nations. That sounds great, but there was the whole problem of him and his wife not being able to conceive. Combine that with old age, and you have an “impossible” situation. Yet when things were at their most “impossible”, God worked.
Earlier in the day I was reading David Wilkerson’s story, The Cross and the Switchblade. David was a country preacher who was called to go into New York City and minister to gangs and drug addicts. David stepped out in faith and went, not knowing what to do. Yet in each situation David encountered, God did the impossible.
In my own life, I remember when my wife and I felt called to adopt a baby from overseas. The only problem was that overseas adoptions cost a lot of money. There was no way we were going to gather enough money to adopt. The situation seemed impossible to us.
But you know what? Sometimes God wants us to think that: Impossible. Because years later, when our son (and then later on daughter) were put in our arms, we were able to look back and remember how it seemed impossible, but God made a way.
Are you in an impossible situation? Maybe you are stuck in an addiction that seems impossible to get out of. Or maybe you feel called to do something that feels unattainable. Or perhaps you are facing a challenge that seems insurmountable.
I feel for you. I am not saying it is easy. But if God is calling you to do something (and that is the key… GOD wants it), then you can rest assured that your impossible situation will someday be a great story of how God worked the impossible.
What is your roll in all of this? Have faith. Just like Abraham believed what God said, we too should believe that God will come through.
That faith will lead us to action as well. Faith does not mean we stand still and wait. But at the root, we simply called to have faith.
