Life can be lonely when you try to do it on your own. We were not wired to live that way. At Island Pond, we want to create opportunities for you to team up with other people in the church to encourage, challenge, and build friendships with each other. One of the primary ways we do this is through small groups.
Below are some of the groups we currently offer. Groups and times change frequently so please contact the office to confirm the group and time.
D Life Groups
Mixed groups focused on Bible reading, discussion, prayer, and community outreach.
- Tuesdays at 6 pm – Facilitated by Ricardo and Maria T. Meets in Plaistow. (September to June)
- Thursdays at 6:30 pm – Facilitated by Tim and Michelle R. Meets in Newton.
Women’s Groups
During the school year, the women of Island Pond gather together in smaller groups to study practical issues and biblical topics pertaining to women and Christianity, while building lasting friendships. These groups usually go from September to May. There are two groups that meet on Thursday:
- Thursday at 10:00 am with Brenda B.
- Thursday at 6:30 pm with Megan L.
Men’s Groups
Similar to the women’s groups, the men’s groups meet to study issues and biblical topics pertaining to men. These groups typically go all year long. Here is a list of the current groups:
- Thursdays at 10 am – Goes through teaching videos followed by a time of discussion and prayer. (This group breaks during the summer)
- Tuesday at 6:30 pm – Devotional and Work Group – Starts out with a short devotional and time of prayer and then spends the rest of the time working on small repairs around the church building.
Sunday School Groups
Every Sunday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, we have groups that meet to study the Bible or a biblical topic together, in more of a “Sunday school” type setting. The groups typically start after Labor Day and go through early June. There are different groups that meet at this time during the summer. Newcomers are welcome to join at any time! There are children’s and teen groups that teach the Bible at their age level.
Adult Sunday School:
- Stand To Reason study: REALITY – Facilitated by Ray & Pat D and Bill & Lois W. A book is available to facilitate the DVD study.
- Shepherding A Child’s Heart – Taught by Adam H. There is a required book to go along with the class.
Children and Teen Sunday School:
- Children’s Sunday School takes place during the 9:30 AM service. There is a nursery available for ages 0-4 and then classes available through 12th grade.
Children’s Church
We offer some awesome children’s classes during the 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM services. More information can be found here.
Prayer Groups
The prayer group meets throughout the year. They typically start with a short devotional and then take time to pray for the church, those in the church that are struggling, and many other topics. There is one group that meets on Wednesdays at 6:15 PM. Congregational prayer also takes place on the first Sunday of each month at 6:15 PM in the sanctuary.
Online Groups
Online groups meet on Zoom to study biblical topics from the comfort of their homes. These groups start at various times throughout the year and only last for set periods of time. Here is what is currently offered:
