I found this book to be very insightful on a lot of the passages that modern culture does not approve of. While I do think the author stretches a little bit in attempting to show that God is not as extreme as people accuse him of, I did learn a lot and came away with a deeper appreciation of the importance of seeing things from the perspective of the original culture. I highly recommend this book.

Chapter 5, on Abraham being called to sacrifice Isaac, was worth the cost of the entire book! Great conclusion and explanation about why something like this was not child abuse or relativism.
