I found it interesting how multiple times during his life he did something that was against his friends or politics in the name of helping others or his convictions on what was wright and wrong. He had close friends, but his identity was not in his friends. He had strong political positions but his actions were not dictated by those positions. Everything he did was based on convictions as a Christian. I was challenged to keep that in mind in my own life. Am I willing to anger a friend to stick by my convictions? Am I willing to chose political positions that may go against my particular party in order stand by God’s word instead? Lot’s to think about!

There is a lot that I could talk about in regards to the life of Wilberforce. He was willing to face adversity for the sake of others. He always looked to better other people. He stood by his convictions over his political leanings, friends, or other connections. He diligently pressed on even when things didn’t seem hopeful. Lot’s we can learn from him!
