Life can be lonely when you try to do it on your own. We were not wired to live that way. At Island Pond, we want to create opportunities for you to team up with others people in the church to encourage each other, challenge other, and reach out to others. Here are several different types of small groups, each with a different goal in mind:
- Adult Bible Study Groups
- Women’s Group
- Men’s Group
- Life Groups
- Activity Groups
Adult Bible Study Groups
Every Sunday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 am, we have several groups that meet to study different aspects of the Bible together. Some might include an in-depth study of one book of the Bible while others may focus on an aspect of Christian living. Groups usually begin near the start of the school year and people will stay in the same group for the rest of the year. However, people are welcome to join at any time!
Current topics include:
- “Bible Studies for Life” – 9:00am – Taught by Ron Mills
- “Confronting Contemporary Culture” – 9:00am – Taught by Steve Miller
- “A Life Beyond Amazing: 9 Decisions That will Transform Your Life” by David Jeremiah — 9:00am – facilitated by Ray & Pat DeVone
- “Growing in Christ: Foundations of the Christian Faith” – 9:00am – Taught by Ron Mills (begins March 11)
Community groups are groups of 5-15 people that meet in the home (or a similar comfy environment) on a regular basis, usually weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the group. These groups focus less on Bible study and more on discussion and application of the recent sermon. The group usually lasts for about two hours and includes a mix of fellowship, discussions that dig deeper into the sermon from Sunday, smaller group encouragement, and prayer. Community groups are a great way to grow closer to other people in the church while growing personally and strengthening others.
We currently have two groups, with more in the works in the near future:
- Hampstead Small Group, Sundays at 5:30pm in Hampstead
- Derry Small Group, Tuesdays at 7pm in Derry
Each Thursday during the school year, the women from Island Pond gather together to study practical issues pertaining to women and Christianity while building lasting friendships. There is both large group and small group time.
There are two groups that meet on Thursday, both with the same content:
- Morning Group, Thursday at 10am at the church
- Evening Group, Thursday at 7pm at a nearby house in Hampstead
Our men’s group meets every Tuesday during the school year in the morning from 10:30am to 12:00 pm. The group is currently going through Proverbs. Additionally, the men meet together for breakfast and prayer at 8:00am (or come at 7:00am to help cook!) on the second Saturday of each month.
Activity groups are gatherings that focus on a particular activity, such as a sport or hobby. The purpose of these groups is for people in the church to socialize, grow closer, and enjoy life together. Additionally, people who do not attend Island Pond are welcome to participate and get to know others from our church.
For more information on any of these groups, give us a call or email.
