Life can be lonely when you try to do it on your own. We were not wired to live that way. At Island Pond, we want to create opportunities for you to team up with others people in the church to encourage each other, challenge other, and reach out to others. Here are several different types of small groups, each with a different goal in mind:
- Bible Study Small Groups
- Women’s Group
- Men’s Group
- Life Groups
- Interest Groups
Bible Study Small Groups
Every Sunday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 am, we have several groups that meet to study different aspects of the Bible together. Some might include an in-depth study of one book of the Bible while others may focus on an aspect of Christian living. Groups usually begin near the start of the school year and people will stay in the same group for the rest of the year. However, new people are welcome to join at any time!
Life groups are groups of 5-15 people that meet in the home (or a similar comfy environment) on a regular basis, usually weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the group. These groups focus less on Bible study and more on discussion and application of the recent sermon. The group usually lasts for about two hours and includes a mix of socializing, discussion, and prayer. Life groups are a great way to grow closer to other people in the church while growing personally and strengthening others.
Current group: Lewis Small Group, Wednesdays at 7pm
Each Thursday during the school year, from 10:00 – 11:45 am, the women from Island Pond gather together to study practical issues pertaining to women and Christianity while building lasting friendships. The group is currently going through the book, We Saved You a Seat: Finding and Keeping Lasting Friendships by Lisa-Jo Baker.
Our men’s group meets every Tuesday during the school year in the morning from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. The group is currently going through Proverbs. Additionally, the men meet together for breakfast and prayer at 8:00 am (or come at 7:00 am to help cook!) on the second Saturday of each month.
Activity groups are gatherings that focus on a particular activity, such as a sport or hobby. The purpose of these groups is for people in the church to socialize, grow closer, and enjoy life together. Additionally, people who do not attend Island Pond are welcome to participate and get to know others from our church.
For more information on any of these groups, give us a call or email.
